In countries such as Switzerland and Germany, where metre gauge found favour, the double slip became an important feature of many station track plans. A vital space saver, it effectively serves in place of four separate turnouts.

The Peco model features finely engineered code 75 nickel-silver rail parts, ensuring reliable operation of the point blades. Over-centre spring operation of the tie-bar comes as standard. Like Peco's other smaller scale rail components, this model is insert moulded in authentic dark brown plastic with finely detailed wood grain effect, and rail fixings. As per the prototype, the model also has extended sleepers at the tie-bar end, and optional dummy throw-levers are included for extra authenticity.
